It’s time again for Christmas in July! It’s not too early to be thinking about holiday crafting for decorating or gifting. I was inspired to make something peppermint themed using a tin and a bunch of the new yuletide-themed items from Alpha Stamps.
I chose to feature a sweet design of a little girl baking cookies from the Sweet Christmas Collage Sheet set inside an Altoid Tin. I always go back to refer to the fantastic tutorial Kristin Batsel did for decorating tins any time I need to make one. I encourage you to go take a peek! Before gluing the image in place, I roughed up the tin’s surface with sandpaper and blackened the interior corners with a Sharpie.
Once the tin was covered, it was embellished with a Double Layer Window Insert painted white. Topping that off is one of the new Snowflake Tin Toppers painted red & white and embellished with a few of the new 8mm Glass Peppermint Cabs.
The finished tin sits on a 3 Cubbies Block that was covered in papers from the Vintage Christmas 6×6 Paper Pad. The interior decorations are cutters from the Cookie Cutters Embellishments Set that I backed with silver glitter scrapbook paper. To make them stand out I made spacers from half inch slices of a balsa wood dowel and glued those to the back of the cutters.
The bottom of the window insert features more of the 8mm Glass Peppermint Cabs and some 11mm Peppermint Candy Cabs. The center piece is the cap of one of the Red Mushrooms on Wires. The base was finished with candies from the new Peppermint Sticks & Canes Set.
Cute snowman assemblages were made by stacking and gluing a selection from the new 12mm Chunky Snowman Beads, some 12mm Red and White Striped Beads and the Red & White 16mm Snowflake Bead Mix onto a round toothpick. Look at his little sweater! This top hat was made from a Mixed Size Black Flat Disc and a slice of dowel painted black. The other hat features a bead from the new Red & Green Baubles Bead Mix. The combinations for making these adorable little fellas are endless! They sit on wooden plugs that were painted red.
This tin/cubby assemblage was placed on a House Ornament Base covered with a peppermint striped paper I found in my stash. Super appropriate for this theme! I tucked two of the 4 Inch Green Sisal Trees with Snow behind the tin. The festive tree toppers are made from two of the Red & Green Baubles Bead Mix glued to a shiny red ball head pin then just pinned to the top of the tree.
Out in front sits a few of the Red Mushrooms glued to silver bead caps as a base. The 25mm Round Glass Globe contains the Larger Iridescent Water Bubble Bead Mix and it sits atop a Silver Crown Bead Cap Base.
The smaller 14mm Round Glass Globe is filled with Mixed Color Acrylic Pearls – 3mm (just the red ones) and sits atop a 10mm Wide Antique Silver Crown or Stand.
