Garden Update

Zucchini is starting to come in. So are the shallots and edamame. I’ve been the only vendor with tomatoes at the Farmer’s Market for two weeks in a row now. That will change soon. Isn’t that cabbage gorgeous? It doesn’t have a single blemish on it. Our cabbage did NOT look like that last year! I think it’s because it’s in the greenhouse. We’ve started harvesting garlic, so much of it. It’s a good problem to have! I’m serving it in corn salsa, baked beans and roasted fingerling potatoes tonight. I sailed right through two whole heads of it. I love having an abundance.

Lapoli posted a lemon (I think it was lemon…) garlic tea recipe on her blog that is supposed to help with head congestion and colds. 🙂
I’m going to give garlic a try next year.

Thanks T, I’ll check it out! Give garlic a try this year. Believe it or not, planting time is a mere four months away. Plant in October, harvest in June.

Beautiful – and you’re right – I’ve never seen a more perfect cabbage! Can’t wait to see what those shallots might get thrown into! 😉

Hmmmm, I wonder? 😉 Our cabbages last year were a bug eaten mess, a travesty, an insult to the cabbage fairies. This year not so much. We only have four of them and that’s about our annual cabbage consumption but dang! I wonder if one will keep until the county fair in September??

Our garden is doing pretty well this year too. I suppose the fact that the deer are eating all the neighbours veggies has something to with it. I say “Feast away!” to the creatures so long as they stay away from our goodies 🙂

Deer are the devil! Our fishing line invisible fencing has kept them out of our garden. So far so good.
