Karakachans are known for being ferocious, territorial guardians.  Wikipedia says this rare breed wouldn’t hesitate to fight wolves or bears to defend its owner and family in case of danger.  That much is known, but who knew they could be so smooshy and adorable?

They are such lovely dogs! I really enjoy seeing your pictures of them. Where does the breed come from, originally?

Hi Linsey! The breed originated in Bulgaria. They are kind of rare in the U.S. Milos and FiFi’s parents were actually imported from Bulgaria. We just love them and are thankful they found us. 🙂

Connie – they look so sweet. Are you able to pet them or are they still shy? What happened to your other dogs??

I have trained them to sit and eat peanut butter dog cookies out of my hand, they’re not skitterish any more. Zeus and Xena are guarding our pregnant ones in the small pasture. I need to get a current photo of them posted soon.
