I know it’s almost impossible to keep deer out of a garden, but surely keeping them out of a tree can’t be that difficult. Or is it?

An 8 foot fence is about the only thing that will keep deer out of an orchard. Our trees aren’t tall enough to give us any ladder fruit. We may need to try an invisible orchard fence, similar to the one protecting our garden.

Out here on the Left Coast the tree rats get the peaches *&* the plums. They don’t seem to care for citrus so the grapefruit, tangerine & limes are safe. I’ve had some lucky barring them from climbing the trunk by fastening an upside down pie plate.

Have you tried deer repellant? There’s a kind that’s a “taste repellant” that I know worked for a friend of mine.
It would be so nice to get some of those peaches for yourself!! 🙂

We’ve tried two kinds of predator urine, capcaisin, soap, hair, all the usual. 😛

It’s called Plantskid? Skyd? Something like that. It makes the fruit taste bad…but I think it’s for organic use – it washes off. 😀
