A Lovely Surprise

Our mushroom logs surprised us this week with a fresh crop, they’re popping out everywhere. These are shiitakes. We’ve got oyster mushroom logs, too, but they haven’t yet produced for us. I’m going to make mushroom risotto and lamb shanks for dinner tonight!

I kind of feel about mushrooms the way you feel about onions – BUT – I LOVE the way they grow!! I made a “mushroom log” pillow last year for that very reason! LOL – by the way – is there ANYTHING you don’t grow??? 😉

I would have said pumpkins but this year we actually got one! Hmm… we’ve got a persimmon tree that we planted four years ago that looks exactly like the day we planted it, but, Brian found some wild persimmons on our new annex property so that doesn’t count. I’m gonna go with onions (although we had a bumper crop of shallots this year). 😉
