On Frozen Pond

Our pond is spring fed so it takes a long spell of frigid weather for it to freeze.  We’ve had that spell, plus an inch of sleet.  What’s weird is there is a round spot near the center that didn’t freeze.   It’s not the deepest part of the pond right there off the dock.  Did some ducks spend the night there paddling around, keeping that spot from freezing or did an alien spacecraft beam up some of our catfish in the middle of the night?  It’s a mystery.

This morning on the Today Show they said that there is a goat dairyman who plays Mariah Carey’s Christmas music to his goats and they produce more milk. I think the song is Have Yourself a Very Merry Christmas.

The spring is under the hole – and since the temp of the spring doesn’t drop it takes longer to freeze above the hole. You probably already figured that out…..

The spring is actually a creek. I meant to say creek-fed. It’s a manmade pond so there’s no underground water source. Strange! All of our goats are dried up and hopefully pregnant so we’ll have milk again in a month or two. I need a Mariah Carey CD and a boom box for the barn!
